A Celebration of Legacy: Homecoming Social at the 2025 Honors Ceremony
Each year, the South Dakota Hall of Fame Honors Ceremony brings together an extraordinary group of individuals who have shaped the state through excellence, leadership, and service. A special highlight of the weekend is the Homecoming Social—a cherished tradition, previously known as the Anniversary Reunion, that welcomes current and former Inductees with the opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate.
This year’s social will be held during the 2025 Honors Ceremony weekend, on Saturday, September 13, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in Chamberlain/Oacoma. This special event offers a meaningful opportunity for Inductees and guests to come together in celebration and reflection. It’s also the perfect time for Inductees and their representatives to update their Legacy biographies—preserving powerful stories and ensuring they continue to inspire future generations. We’re honored to reconnect with past Inductees, hear their remarkable journeys, and keep their legacies alive for years to come.
The Homecoming Social is free and open to the public, offering a chance for attendees to experience the spirit of the Hall firsthand.
A Joyful Reunion of South Dakota’s Finest
The Homecoming Social is more than a reception—it’s a powerful reminder of the enduring impact Hall of Fame Inductees have across generations. From heartfelt conversations between longtime friends to new connections made among recent Inductees, the room is filled with stories that span decades and disciplines.
This year’s gathering will feature live music by Bryan Akipa (Class of 2024), a Native American flutist and cultural ambassador whose performances offer a uniquely South Dakotan soundscape. His artistry sets the perfect tone for an evening centered on legacy and community.
Honoring the Past. Inspiring the Future.
Inductees and their representatives are invited to update their Legacy of Achievement pages during the social. These pages are far more than biographies; they are living legacies, evolving testaments to lives of purpose, passion, and perseverance.
This is a rare and powerful opportunity to reflect on their life’s journey since induction—whether it’s a milestone achieved, a continued commitment to service, or a new perspective gained over time. Every update adds depth and richness to the stories we share with the world.
These legacy pages are not just archived—they are actively explored by students, educators, researchers, and aspiring leaders across South Dakota and beyond. They are among the Hall’s most treasured tools for inspiration, illuminating the many ways excellence can be pursued and shared.
By taking time to update your page, you not only honor your own story—you help empower the next generation to imagine what’s possible for theirs.
