USD Alumni Honored Friday As ‘Pillars Of Distinction’

Friday night, Nov. 7, the University of South Dakota presented four 2025 Pillars of Distinction awards to four graduates of the university’s College of Arts and Sciences who have excelled in their personal and professional lives.

The awards were presented at a banquet ceremony held at the Valiant Vineyards Winery and Distillery in Vermillion.

Mark Fisher, M.D., received the Pillar of Discovery Award. Lorraine Hart was presented the Pillar of Service Award. A Pillar of Leadership Award was presented to former Sen. Larry Pressler. A. Truman Schwartz, Ph.D., received the Pillar of Enlightenment award.
