The South Dakota Hall of Fame board chair, Michelle Lavallee, announces the appointment of Dzenan Berberovic, Sioux Falls, SD to the South Dakota Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

Dzenan Berberovic, Chief Philanthropy Officer of Avera Health in Sioux Falls, is a strong figure in the world of philanthropy and a Certified Fundraising Executive by CFRE International. He has received many awards for his work including the Outstanding Young Professional of the Year award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Global. Berberovic also served in successive leadership roles for the University of South Dakota Foundation, culminating as Executive Director for Principal Giving. An inspiring personal story guided him towards a career in philanthropy. After escaping war-torn Bosnia, Berberovic and his mother came from Germany to Sioux Falls in the late 90s. “I was first introduced to the purpose and power of philanthropy as the grateful recipient of a stranger’s generosity, and my life’s work was born,” he said. “I am committed to helping people – especially society’s most vulnerable.” Berberovic shares a deep passion for the people of South Dakota for opening their arms to him and his mother and has made it his life’s work to work for the well being of this state.
