Pierre man among Class of 2025 inductees to South Dakota Hall of Fame

A man from Pierre is one of 11 people who will be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2025. Jim Soyer will be posthumously honored for his political contributions. The South Dakota Hall of Fame has also created a new category for historical figures. This year’s Historical Figure inductee is Valentine McGillycuddy (1849-1939), the state’s first surgeon general.

The inductees will be celebrated during an Honors Ceremony in September (Sept. 12-13, 2025) in Chamberlain/Oacoma. The public is invited to attend.
