Benedictine Sisters Receive Acts of Excellence Award from SD Hall of Fame

Watertown, SD -The South Dakota Hall of Fame honored the Benedictine Sisters of The Mother of God Monastery with an Acts of Excellence award on Tuesday, August 4, recognizing their legacy of service and innovative transformation of their 485-acre Watertown campus.

The Benedictine Sisters have served South Dakota since arriving from Switzerland in the late 1870s to establish schools and healthcare across the territory. After founding their home base on Harmony Hill in Watertown in 1964, the order spent decades expanding education, healthcare, and ministry throughout the region.
